Get to Know: Joyce Oscar and Donald Reichardt
Authors Joyce Oscar and Donald Reichardt will be participating on our Fiction/Non-Fiction Book Panel set for Sunday, May 20 at 2 p.m. during the Literary Celebration portion of the Canton Festival of the Arts, held in historic downtown Canton, Ga.
Joyce and Donald are the authors of “Justice on Hold,” about two determined career women who cross paths in the high stakes world of media and public relations. Inspired by true events, the novel weaves its way through a crime investigation, courtroom drama and the fight for justice. Both authors have an extensive background in public relations and journalism.
Joyce has been a reporter and anchor for top-rated WSB television in Atlanta for more than 20 years. She began her broadcast career in Chicago writing radio commercials, and landed her first television broadcast position at Atlanta-based Cable News Network. A native of Chicago, Joyce graduated from Western Illinois University with a major in mass communication. She’s received Southern Regional Emmy Award nominations for her coverage of the “Sandy Springs Bombing” in 1998, the “Hartsfield Shutdown” in 2002, and the “Courthouse Shooting” in 2006.
Donald taught English and wrote for newspapers before becoming editor of a company newspaper for Southwestern Bell Telephone. Before leaving corporate life to pursue freelance projects, Donald was on AT&T’s speechwriting team, head of public relations for various companies, and executive director of advertising for the BellSouth Corporation. He was elected to the College of Fellows of the Public Relations Society of America and to the Georgia Public Relations Hall of Fame. Last year he was named a Distinguished Alumni by Emporia State University in Kansas where he majored in English with an emphasis in journalism.
“Justice on Hold” is the first in a series of novels in the Grace Gleason Files. The second installment is currently being written. The idea for the series came years ago when Joyce interviewed Donald for a story on WSB-TV in Atlanta.
Join us at the festival May 19-20 and hear more from these two authors about their books, their writing process, how they got published and much more. For now, you can visit their website – www.justiceonhold.com – for more information.
